All Vélib’ are equipped with an electronic box located on the handlebars, allowing quick and direct access to the bike. 

To hire a Vélib’: 

- If you’re a subscriber: pass your Vélib’ or Navigo card over the box. 

- If you have a 1 or 7 days pass: type your username and password on the digital keypad 

There you go! 

The bike screen displays essential information during the rental: speed, distance traveled, journey time and battery level for electric bikes.

35% of the Vélib’ are electric bikes (blue bikes). 

Thanks to electric bikes, a few pedal strokes are enough to go up to 25 km/h, regardless of the slope! 

You can choose the assistance level by pressing 1, 2 or 3 on the keypad. 

By default, Vélib’ bikes are always set on level 1 for a smooth start. When stopped, press 2 or 3 to increase the electric assistance.

Have you ever noticed? An anti-theft cable is cleverly inserted into the handlebars of the bike.

If you want to stop for a few minutes, simply pass your Vélib' card over the electronic box.

The bike's fork locks automatically. You can then use the anti-theft cable to attach your Vélib' to a fixed point.
